Progression and Young Leaders
Try something, build evidence, take a next step and help someone else.
Clootie is interested in what young people do next, not simply how many talks they attend. Structured participants will work towards a tangible project, new activity, qualification, education or career step.
Individual progression plan
Each plan is built around six simple questions.
- What interests me?
- What opportunity would help me explore it?
- What might get in the way?
- What is my next action?
- Who can help?
- When will we review it?
Projects
A participant may create, build, perform, investigate, organise or improve something. Projects help young people practise communication, teamwork, creativity, problem-solving and perseverance while producing visible evidence of progress.
Young leaders
Young people can move from taking part to planning, explaining, encouraging others and leading part of a session. Leadership evidence may include plans, role allocation, observations, feedback and reflection.
Qualifications
We are developing links with approved partners to identify an appropriate first leadership award and possible later progression towards an SVQ or equivalent. We will only advertise a qualification once registration, eligibility, assessment and delivery have been formally confirmed.
Giving back
Participants who have benefited can return as Clootie ambassadors, peer supporters or contributors. Young people from similar backgrounds can become especially credible role models for the next group.
